Waiting on Wednesday #43: Soundless by Richelle Mead

Image
"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
Richelle Mead is releasing a new project that's not set around Vampire Academy or Bloodlines and I'm beyond excited! VA is one of my favorite series and my expectations for Soundless are through the roof. By the synopsis alone I'm not all that thrilled, but hey, Richelle wrote it so it can't possibly be bad, can it?

Soundless by Richelle Mead is released on November 10th, 2015 For as long as Fei can remember, there has been no sound in her village, where rocky terrain and frequent avalanches prevent residents from self-sustaining. Fei and her people are at the mercy of a zipline that carries food up the treacherous cliffs from Beiguo, a mysterious faraway kingdom.

When villagers begin to lose their sight, deliveries from the zipline shrink and many go hungry. Fei’s home, the people she loves, and her entire existence …

I've never read anything by Cassandra Rose Clarke before, honestly, I've never even heard of her. But I'm not one to pass up a dystopian with a gorgeous cover. I have no idea how I'm going to handle four main characters at the same time unless they team up. A team I can handle. Four separate main characters, whew. I sure hope Cassandra is up for the challenge to make it comprehensible. But I foresee greatness!

Our Lady of the Ice by Cassandra Rose Clarke is released on October 27th, 2015 Hope City, Antarctica. The southernmost city in the world, with only a glass dome and a faltering infrastructure to protect its citizens from the freezing, ceaseless winds of the Antarctic wilderness. Within this bell jar four people–some human, some not–will shape the future of the city forever:

Eliana Gomez, a female PI looking for …

I don't read much crime or thriller. I'm not entirely sure which genre Drowning is Inevitable fit into, but whichever it is I don't read much of it. But it sounds too good to turn down!

Drowning Is Inevitable by Shalanda Stanley is released on September 8th, 2015 Olivia has spent her whole life struggling to escape her dead mother’s shadow. But when her father can’t even look at her because Olivia reminds him of her mother, and her grandmother mistakenly calls her “Lillian,” shaking a reputation she didn’t ask for is next to impossible. Olivia is used to leaning on her best friend, Jamie; her handsome but hot-tempered boyfriend, Max; and their wild-child friend, Maggie, for the reality check that her small Louisiana town can’t provide. But when a terrible fight between Jamie and his father turns deadly, all Olivia can thi…

Waiting on Wednesday #40: Walk on Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson

What's happened lately, all cover designers developed magical abilities?! Every new cover I see out there is drop-dead gorgeous. I mean LOOK AT IT. Magical! As for the book, I'm not completely sold on the sense-gold-superpower but if the world building is as good as in Girl of Fire and Thorns this book ought to be fantastic. Especially with a slow burning romance, the best kind of book romance.

Walk on Earth a Stranger The Gold Seer Trilogy #1 by Rae Carson is released on September 22nd, 2015 Lee Westfall has a secret. She can sense the presence of gold in the world around her. Veins deep beneath the earth, pebbles in the river, nuggets dug up from the forest floor. The buzz of gold means warmth and life and home—until everything is ripped away by a man who wants to control her. Left with nothing, Lee disguises herself as a boy …

Top Ten Tuesday #30: Hyped Books I've Never Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly Top Ten list hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
Hyped books are scary! If everybody is raving about a book and seems to love it I always go in with sky high expectations, and having high expectations and being let down is awful!

Books I Will Get Off My Lazy And Read

Click the covers to go to their GR page

Allegiant by Veronica Roth has only been sitting on my shelf for a year and a half. I did the very stupid thing and started reading reviews and people didn't love the end. I LOVE the series, I love Tris and Four and I don't want to not love them because of the end. So right now my motto is "Ignorance is bliss". Some time I'll get to it though, it might just take another year and a half.

I've just never gotten around to reading Legend by Marie Lu, it's definitely high on my TBR though!

I've been meaning to read A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer for 10 years! Refiding it for this list means I have to go to the library tomorrow…

Waiting on Wednesday #39: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

I loved Leigh Bardugo's The Gisha series. Well, the first book at least (review here) because that's about how far I've gotten. I've had the second book lying on a shelf for a year and a half and I just haven't gotten to it yet. You know how it is, there's also something new popping up pushing it down on the TBR.

But seriously, with Bardugo's unchallenged ability to create new and awe-inspiring worlds, a mix of Game of Thrones and Ocean's Eleven, how can Six of Crows possibly go wrong?

Six of Crows The Dregs #1 by Leigh Bardugo is released on September 29th, 2015 Game of Thrones meets Ocean's Eleven in this brand-new book in the world of the Grisha by New York Times-bestselling author Leigh Bardugo.
