Review: Scoring Wilder by R.S. Grey

Title: Scoring Wilder
Series: Stand alone
Author: R.S. Grey
Publisher: R.S. Grey
What started out as a joke— seduce Coach Wilder—soon became a goal she had to score.

With Olympic tryouts on the horizon, the last thing nineteen-year-old Kinsley Bryant needs to add to her plate is Liam Wilder. He's a professional soccer player, America's favorite bad-boy, and has all the qualities of a skilled panty-dropper.

• A face that makes girls weep – check.
• Abs that can shred Parmesan cheese (the expensive kind) – check.
• Enough confidence to shift the earth’s gravitational pull – double check.

Not to mention Liam is strictly off limits . Forbidden. Her coaches have made that perfectly clear. (i.e. “Score with Coach Wilder anywhere other than the field and you’ll be cut from the team faster than you can count his tattoos.”) But that just makes him all the more enticing…Besides, Kinsley's already counted the visible ones, and she is not one to leave a project unfinished.

Kinsley tries to play the game her way as they navigate through forbidden territory, but Liam is determined to teach her a whole new definition for the term “team bonding.”

A fun & sexy New Adult Romance (age 17+)

I think I hate this woman. Seriously. R.S. Grey write books that are damn near IMPOSSIBLE to put down. I stayed up late, as in way past midnight, until self-preservation took over knowing I should get out of bed by 6 am. I didn't. And I was late for work the next morning. I barely made it at all because I was reading on the bus and so very nearly missed my stop because I was completely engrossed in the book. So, fair warning, reading Scoring Wilder may be bad for your work ethics and get you in trouble with your boss.

Anyhow, more about the book and less about my ditziness.

While being an incredibly sweet and lovey dovey book with an almost too perfect man it deals with some subjects in a way that I can actually truly stand behind. Especially the whole discussion about virginity, maybe it's just my Swedish upbringing but I honestly don't think being or not being a virgin is a big thing. Sex is great so go at it like bunnies if that's what you want, judges be damned.

It also approaches bullying at college level and we get a really great monologue in Kinsley's head about how to handle it, and she's such a fantastic role model!

Our girl, Kinsley, is definitely going on my "Girls I love"-list. She's smart, she's talented and she's determined. She's got a good head on her shoulders and has great values and priorities. She's not: 1. The incredibly shy and insecure girl going to college and breaking out of her shell, or 2. The over the top party girl settling down. She's just you everyday girl who happens to be an exceptional soccer player, which means she's a breath of fresh air when it comes to college aged main characters who always seem to be girl 1 or 2. Sadly, mostly 1. I think that's why I love her the most.

That and all that clever wit. You know how you always come up with the most amazing comebacks two hours after you needed them? Well, Kinsley actually says them right then and there, and the reactions are just as good as you knew they'd be!

And our man, Liam, our soccer god, or just plain old regular god. Christ, he's swoony. Prepare for a lot of face fanning and panty melting. He's almost to perfect to be likable but has just enough rugged edge to be an awesome book boyfriend.

All in all, Scoring Wilder is a sweet and funny read that's perfect for when you just want that all consuming lovey dovey feeling and giggle uncontrollable like a school girl.

“If only we actually were in Harry Potter. I’d totally Crucio her ass. Yeah, that’s right, I’d use one of the Unforgivable Curses. Come at me, Ministry of Magic.”

“She believed she could, so she did.”

“He bent down so I could hear him over the music. "What are you doing here?" he asked with a hard tone.

Okay. Not the best first line. Something like, you look beautiful, have my babies would have been a little bit better.”

(Have I told you I love Kinsley?)

About the author:
I am a lover of books, chocolate, reality TV, metaphors and similes, black labs, and cold weather. Seriously, if I had it my way I would be curled up on the couch with all of those things… everyday.

I was born and raised in Texas where I spend my free time writing and reading. My favorite authors are Mindy Kaling & Jonathan Safran Foer. I’m a comedy geek and love all things “funny”. Women like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling are definitely the biggest inspirations for my writing, though I think my work tends to skew a bit smuttier than theirs ;)
