Synopsis:
Emma decided to skip the gym and went home early. It was the last easy decision she made because she found her roommate being raped by the boyfriend. She had two choices. Call the cops and be killed by his family’s mafia connections or kill him first and hope to survive. There was no choice to her. She killed the bastard first and went to the one person who could protect her. Carter Reed. He’s a weapon for the rivaling mafia family, but he’s also Emma’s secret. Not only was he best friends with her brother, but she’s the reason he became that weapon in the first place.

I don't think words can express how psyched I was for this book to be released. I mean, come on, it's Tijan! And you can't believe how happy I am to be a stop at this book tour. I got to read and review an ARC before the book was even released and I absolutely loved it.

Review:
Oh god, I love this woman. If I was only allowed to read books from one author for the rest of my life the choice would be as easy as pie. Tijan's books has it all, and so does Carter Reed. There's adrenaline filled scenes and gun fights, there's a strong, stubborn and independent woman and there's a swoon worthy man who makes my knees weak. The recipe for a perfect book.

That's the short version, the longer version:

Emma knows what she has to do to, she has to keep her friends safe, ehm... safer, even if it breaks her heart, I can't believe the lengths this girl would go to protect her friends. She makes the tough decisions and she stands by them. She's fiercely loyal and surprisingly resourceful.

Carter, carter, carter... where to begin? He's got chiseled cheekbones, a sculpted body and I'd probably faint if those piercing blue eyes ever looked at me. He'd do anything to keep Emma safe, including starting a war with the mob. He's got a wicked sense of humor and he, too, is as loyal as they come.

Both Carter and Emma are two of those characters whom I love to read about but would scare me half to death in real life. Probably because I'd rather not cross the mafia, ever.

Tijan pictures a world I know nothing about and writes about character I can't relate to, because we're nothing alike, but that doesn't matter. There is never question why people act as they do or are how they are, it's a matter of survival and it all makes perfect sense. You don't need prior knowledge in the world of the mafia, she tell's you everything you need to know.

Tijan's the goddess of holding her readers prisoners from the first page and giving them a life sentence of always wanting more. Not because anything is lacking but because you can't get enough.

About Tijan:
Tijan started writing later in life, after she had already graduated college with a different direction in mind and a different degree under her belt. Hitting the brakes on that path, she taught herself how to write a good book and began posting at sites such as Fictionpress, along with Wattpad. After receiving such encouraging messages from readers, she self-published Fallen Crest High and has continued throughout the year. She continues to keep writing NA books!
